And The Goodness of God
Yesterday marked the first Monday of 2024 back in the saddle. After a wonderful Christmas break and time spent with family, I was determined to start the day with the two most critical components for my success: Jesus and Crossfit.
After reading Luke 10, I specifically prayed that on this first work day of the new year, God would open my heart and mind to see Him more clearly throughout the day; that my eyes and ears would be available to experience the goodness of God.
Fast forward to showers, backpacks, lunches and laptops for the five of us. One by one we all got ready and headed out the door for school, work and the greenhouse with time to spare! Because of this, I decided I would make a delivery to a lady in Holland before my morning meeting. Her package mistakingly was delivered to our house over the holiday break. Jeremy had tracked her down, called her the night before and reassured her I would deliver it before my meeting.
As I drove to Holland to make that delivery and then on to work, I was thinking about one of my colleagues in particular. She is pure sunshine & joy and exudes the most helpful spirit that is so appreciated and absolutely contagious. I knew she would be at our meeting, so I thought that if time allowed, I would stop at Biggby and pick up her favorite hot beverage to ring in the New Year and our first Monday morning meeting of 2024.
As I pulled up to Tiffany Ridge Drive and located the correct house number, a lady immediately stepped outside the front door. She was so grateful that she didn’t have to drive the 40 minutes to our house for her package and couldn’t believe we had tracked her down. We talked for a brief minute and as I left she handed me an envelope.
When I hopped inside my car, I opened the envelope. She had written the sweetest thank you note and taped right on top of the card was a $10 gift card to Biggby. Tears flowed from my eyes. I knew in that exact moment that God wanted me to see His goodness through a complete stranger and a trip to Biggby.
A Prayer for 2024…
God, as we welcome a new year, continue to show us your goodness in both the big things and small. Thank you for using people, here on this side of eternity, to show us you are indeed working in our lives. Open our eyes, our ears, our minds and our hearts to see you more clearly and love you more deeply throughout each of our days. Amen.
